Quick answer: Playrooms has 30 achievements. Most are automatic room-entry and room-clear rewards; the hard ones are "All the chirps" (20 sparrows), "Eagle Eye" (14 office items), "No re-hires needed" (a deathless run) and "Colour is a distraction" (a single-colour pit).

How achievements work in Playrooms

Playrooms does not have a separate achievement menu inside the game. The Steam overlay is your tracker, and the game itself shows progress only when an achievement has a counter. The good news is that almost everything is cumulative across saves, so you do not need one perfect run.

The exceptions are the room-clear achievements, which fire per room, and "No re-hires needed", which requires a single run without using a replacement. Plan those deliberately.

The room-entry achievements are impossible to miss if you finish the game. The room-clear achievements require a full pit, which is the same condition as "Model employee" for each area.

The hard achievements

All the chirps (20 sparrows)

The sparrow achievement is the biggest collectible hunt in the game. The birds are small, they chirp when you are close and they do not appear on the HUD. There are 20 across eight rooms, and the count is tracked per bird rather than per room.

The sparrow locations guide→ explains the search pattern. The short version: check ledges, tops of furniture, dark corners and the spaces above eye level. Sparrows like the same hiding spots as ceiling balls.

Eagle Eye (14 office items)

The office items are the second collectible set. They are physical objects for your office, not emails, and they persist across rooms. The count is 14. Most are in side rooms and on desks; a few are behind furniture. There is no map, so the practical method is to check every desk and shelf before you leave a room.

No re-hires needed

This is the deathless-style achievement. The description is "Replacement staff stood by, but unused", which means you finished the game without using the replacement mechanic. The name is the clue: the company has replacement staff, and you did not need them.

The safest route is a dedicated second run with the fear settings lowered. You already know the rooms, so the risk is mostly the dark sections and the Hotel corridors. Do not combine it with a completion run; the collectible hunting makes you take risks.

Colour is a distraction

Fill a single ball pit using one colour. The game sorts balls by colour when they are delivered, and the achievement checks whether the pit is monochrome. The easiest place is a small pit with a large ball supply; the Playroom or the Waiting Room works.

Do not try this on the final pit. The final pit accepts everything and the run ends immediately after.

10.000 and 100.000 reasons to quit

These are cumulative delivery milestones: 10,000 balls and 100,000 balls. They are not per-run. A normal completion delivers enough for the first; the second is a long-tail achievement that you earn by replaying rooms or by farming a high-density area.

The fastest farm is a large room with a central pit and a short route. The School and the Hotel are the best candidates once their layouts are familiar.

The hidden achievements

Three achievements are hidden on Steam: "Free Lexi", "A new colleague" and "Clock out". They are not missable, but they do not show a description until they unlock.

  • Free Lexi is tied to the cat. The description is "Meow meow meow" and the counter is eight, which suggests a multi-step interaction rather than a single find.
  • A new colleague is the first vacuum robot purchase. Buy one robot and it unlocks.
  • Clock out is the ending. Fill the final pit and walk through the exit.

Fastest achievement order

If you want the list finished with the least wasted effort:

  1. Play normally through the rooms. The entry and clear achievements come with progression.
  2. Buy the robot as soon as it is available. It is cheap and the achievement is free.
  3. Max the hand skills and the upgrades in the same run.
  4. Do the sparrow and office-item hunts after the story, when you know the rooms.
  5. Do the single-colour pit on a small pit, not the final one.
  6. Save "No re-hires needed" for a dedicated low-fear run.
  7. Farm the 100,000-ball milestone last; it is the longest tail.
Do not save-scum the room clears

The room-clear achievements fire on the pit, not on the exit. If you fill a pit and then reload, the achievement is already saved. Use that to test whether a pit is truly full before you move on.

Achievements and the 100% checklist

The achievement list overlaps with the completion checklist but is not identical. The checklist also covers the story notes, the office items and the final exit sequence. The 100% checklist→ groups both.

If you only care about the achievement count, the 30 above are the whole list. There are no difficulty-specific achievements and no missable room clears.

FAQ

How many achievements are in Playrooms? Thirty, including three hidden ones.

Are any Playrooms achievements missable? The room clears are not missable in the usual sense, but "No re-hires needed" requires a single run and can be failed. Plan it separately.

What is the hardest achievement? "All the chirps" for most players, because the 20 sparrows are small and spread across eight rooms. "No re-hires needed" is the most skill-dependent.

How do you get Colour is a distraction? Fill one ball pit with a single colour. Use a small pit with a large ball supply.

Do achievements carry across saves? The cumulative counts do. Room-specific clears are tracked per room and persist.
